The Department of Economics at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, the Urrutia Elejalde Fundation and the Research Chair Antoni Serra Ramoneda (UAB-Catalunya) jointly sponsor the Ninth International Meeting on Experimental and Behavioral Economics (IMEBE), organized by Jordi Brandts (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona & Institut d’Anàlisi Econòmica), Antonio Cabrales (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid) Enrique Fatás (University of East Anglia) and Nikos Georgantzís (Granada University & LEE-Universitat Jaume I).

The meeting intends to bring together researchers in behavioral and experimental economics, as well as in related areas of the social sciences. The program will consist of five invited and a number of contributed talks.

The five invited speakers are:

  • Prof. Juan Camilo Cárdenas. Professor of Economics, Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá
  • Prof. Andreas Diekmann. Professor of Sociology, ETH, Zürich
  • Prof. Carsten de Dreu. Professor of Psychology, University of Amsterdam
  • Prof. Simon Gaechter. Professor of Psychology of Economic Decision Making, University of Nottingham
  • Prof. Larry Samuelson. A. Douglas Melamed Professor of Economics, Yale University

Proposals for contributed papers should be sent, in the form of an extended abstract or a full paper, to the organizers through the registration form at IMEBE-website.

Both theoretical and empirical papers on the topics of experimental and behavioural economics are encouraged. Interdisciplinary papers involving economics and psychology or sociology are also welcome. The deadline for submitting papers is January 15th. Authors will receive notification of acceptance by January 31st.

The conference venue is the Hotel Meliá Galgos in Madrid.

There will be a moderate registration fee and additional information about the meeting will be posted on the IMEBE-webpage as it comes up.

CONFERENCE VENUE

The conference will be held at the Hotel Melia Galgos, Madrid, Spain. Located in the centre of Madrid, with excellent access to any part of the city, it has a privileged location in the heart of the Salamanca neighborhood.

The hotel offers Free WiFi internet access in the public areas and in the rooms. The hotel provides a fully equipped gym for the exclusive use of guests, a sauna, and hydromassage.

There are a many types of rooms and prices:

BASIC SINGLE ROOM

Rooms measuring approximately 14 m2 with views of the quiet interior patios and furnished with 1m by 2m or 1.20m by 2m single bed. Functional and equipped with all the details of a 4 star Meliá hotel.

Prices: 80€ (only accommodation), 85€ (breakfast buffet included).

CLASSIC ROOM

The rooms provide a queen size bed, king size bed or two single beds. Measuring approximately 20-22 m2 with views of the Diego de León street, the Claudio Coello street or the quiet interior patios. Functional and equipped with all the details of a 4 star Meliá hotel.

Prices: 90€ (Only accommodation, single or double), 95€ (single use with breakfast buffet) and 107€ (double use with breakfast buffet).

Directions by car

From Barajas Airport:

  • Take the A2 motorway into Madrid. 
  • Take the “Madrid Centro” direction, going along Avenida de América, María de Molina, then turn left into Serrano street.
  • Follow Serrano street until Diego de León street and turn left.
  • You will see the Meliá Galgos entrance after 20 metres.

From the city centre:

From Paseo de la Castellana head towards Glorieta de Emilio Castelar. Once in the square go along Hermanos Bécquer street until you reach Diego de León street and see the Meliá Galgos.

SUBMISSION-REGISTRATION

In order to submit a paper, you will need to . After you have created the account and you have logged in, you can submit your paper and you can register for the conference.

Submission: The deadline for submitting papers ends on the 15th of January. Proposals for contributed papers should be sent, in the form of an extended abstract or a full paper.

Registration: Registration includes conference meals, coffee-breaks, and the conference dinner. Any guided visit is not included in the fee.

The deadline for registering to the conference ends on February 28th for presenting authors.

Fees are:

  • Before February 28th: €251.
  • After February 28th and before April 1st: €302.
